About:

Garland ‘AKimbo’ Schumann is a multi-faceted audio engineer with a high level of studio and live sound experience. Garland has been freelancing for several years now, which has taken him through a variety of sessions, genres, and studios. Garland prioritizes the artist’s intent and experience above all else, and looks at every day as a new opportunity to facilitate art and engage with a new perspective.

Garland first began his audio engineering journey back in 2014 when he first downloaded Ableton Live 9. What started as an interest in self-production slowly became a true passion for engineering, and by the time Garland graduated in 2023 with a Bachelor’s of Science in Audio Engineering (University of North Carolina at Asheville), he was fully immersed in the studio rat lifestyle. Garland now produces in Ableton Live, and records, mixes, and masters in Pro Tools. Garland prefers to take a hybrid approach to engineering, heavily valuing the analogue domain while simultaneously taking advantage of the power of the digital era. 

Garland has over 60 released credits currently totaling over 99 thousand cumulative streams. Throughout his journey, Garland has worked in genres such as Pop, Hip Hop, R&B, Alternative, EDM, Punk, Metal, and more.
